Today in the English club we made a jack-o'-lantern. Did you know that jack-o'-lanterns were originally made with turnips? And they were originally just a lantern that was carried around by a person named Jack. That’s why we call them jack-o'-lanterns, it means Jack’s lantern.

We couldn’t decide on a single lantern face so we made two. One face on the back and one face on the front. It was a great succsess. We put our jack’o’lantern on display at the front of the school.  We set up a table with pen and paper for students to guess the weight of the pumpkin. Soon we will check the results and announce the winner of the jack-o'-lantern guessing contest.
